CAUSE | Motivation

 


With the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic, the entire nation went into lockdown. So do we. This gave us an opportunity to understand and look closely at the problems being faced by the elderly at home to which we never felt and seen before.

Elderly people are the venerable section of society with vast knowledge and experience. In the present scenario, they are being neglected and their problems are unfelt and unseen. So their intellectual assets are being less invested. Witnessing this problem the question stoke to us is why can't this gap be bridged to reinforce the upcoming generations from elderly knowledge storehouses? This will not merely be a boon for youth, it will also unleash the importance of the elderly and will trigger everyone's perspective towards them. We came up with different modes through which this problem could be solved, but considering the upsurge in internet usability and other factors in IoT development we arrived at designing an App as our modus operandi.

The 4th industrial revolution with  AI  and other advanced technology could also play a vital role in designing robust applications. New technology will help in better understanding elderly needs which are unfelt and unseen. Furthermore, there are several platforms like Skillshare, LinkedIn, etc who are trying to connect the workforce and skilled community with the job market. But there is scantly any profound platform targeting the elderly to invest in their skills and knowledge. Hence we are in the venture to fill this void with a platform like mobile application which will not only actuate the elderly involvement but will also act as their financial aid. 

Predominantly the new education policy proposed by MHRD which focuses more on vocational training would be a great fit for this scenario. The demand of 50% of the students to learn a vocation of their interest is quite staggering when we look into the availability of vocational trainers in the country. There is clearly a need and quest for additional vocational trainers. Apparently the new mentors, trainers to enjoin the new generation must be from the elderly. The upspringing educational mass is in a need of vocational training, this in turn can be supplemented by experienced and skilled elderly. Hence these cases will complement each other once a platform is built, which will connect them all.and the best method we found was a mobile application.
